This 5 day private tour will take you through some of the most inspiring and dramatic places in the Highlands including 2 nights on the romantic Isle of Skye. Day 1

Departing from either Edinburgh or Glasgow our journey heads northwest through the picturesque Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Weaving through the majestic mountains and glens behold the majesty of the Scottish Highlands. Arriving in Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK marvel at rugged and wild landscape in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the UKs highest mountain.

Day 2

After a hearty Scottish breakfast today takes us through Lochaber towards Mallaig and the ferry to the Isle of Skye. Along the way we will stop at the awe inspiring Glenfinnan Viaduct that featured in the Harry Potter film. This is also the location of the Glenfinnan Monument, where Bonny Prince Charlie raised the Stewart standard in the 1745 Jacobite uprising. Alternatively you may want to follow this route under Steam on the world famous Jacobite steam train.

After a short stop in Mallaig and a tasty lunch we will board the Calmac ferry to the Isle of Skye were we will spend the next 2 nights.

Day 3

We will have the full day to explore Skye, also known as the misty isle. Skye is an incredible island, stunning almost prehistoric landscapes, huge sea cliffs, waterfalls, and mystical places. There’s so much to see and do you might want to add an extra day. We’ll visit the Trotternish peninsula with iconic sights like The Old Man Of Storr, Kilt Rock, and The Quirang. You can even walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs that left their mark on the island millions of years ago. Ahead awaits Dunvegan Castle, an impressive coastal fortress, home of the McLeods for over 700 years.


Day 4

Today we leave Skye behind and head for Inverness, Capital of the Highlands. We’ll leave the island via the worlds on manually operated turntable ferry at Glenelg before visiting some incredible ancient brochs dating back over 2000 years. As we climb out of Glenelg over the impressive Mam Ratagan pass, behold the sweeping vista ahead, captioned by the Five Sisters of Kintail. Before reaching our destination for the night we will stop at the legendary Loch Ness so you can soak up its imposing presence.

Day 5

After a relaxing evening in Inverness we will visit the emotive Culloden Battlefield, scene of the bloody finale to the “45” Jacobite uprising, and mysterious Clava Cairns. Beyond lies the Cairngorm National Park. The area covers over 4,500 Sq. km and is home to many rare and unique species of animals, flora and fauna. A quick stop at Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest distillery in the UK, for some whisky and chocolate tasting and soon we will be in Highland Perthshire. This area is often called big tree country. You’ll soon see why! Soon the Highlands will be behind you as we cross the mighty Firth of Forth and impressive Forth Bridges before arriving in Edinburgh.
